HSBC Canada: finding the right banking information after the move to RBC

HSBC Bank Canada is no longer a separate Canadian retail-banking option to compare with RBC. The acquisition closed on March 28, 2024. This retained guide helps people searching for the former HSBC Canada service find the appropriate current information.

Start with the institution that holds your account

Use RBC’s official website, your current account documents or the contact method on your bank card. Do not register for a new HSBC Canada account or download an old Canadian app based on a search result. BankOnline is an independent guide and does not provide account access.

RBC’s acquisition record · RBC’s archived migration explanation

Separate the old account from its current terms

The 2024 migration materials describe a past transition. They do not establish today’s fee, interest rate, transfer limit or product eligibility. Read the agreement and statements for the account you now hold, and ask RBC to explain any account-name or number change. A product elsewhere in the HSBC group is not automatically part of the Canadian transition.

What would you like to do?

    Keep international questions account-specific

If you previously used international transfers, foreign-currency accounts or overseas account links, ask the current provider which service applies now. Compare the transfer charge, exchange rate, recipient charge and delivery conditions for that particular transaction. This guide does not assume a former HSBC feature continues unchanged.

    A safer next step

Open the bank’s official address yourself and use its current help channels. Do not provide a password, security answer, one-time code or account statement to this website or to someone offering to “complete” the migration. If a payment or account record looks wrong, contact the bank directly; a MITEY enquiry cannot trace or recover money.
